Recording a featured verse remotely
A feature usually goes wrong at the handoff: the guest records at the wrong tempo, sends a file that does not line up, or prints effects that cannot be undone. Feature recording is about capturing your collaborator's verse cleanly and getting it back in a form that drops straight into your song.

What to send a featured artist
- The beat as a WAV, with its BPM and key
- Which bars are theirs (for example, verse 2: 16 bars)
- A rough of the song so far, and a reference
- Ask for dry WAV files back, starting from bar 1, with the lead, doubles and adlibs as separate files

What should I send my featured artist?
The beat as a WAV, its BPM and key, the bars that are theirs, a rough of the song, and a reference.
What format should the feature come back in?
Dry WAV files at the song's sample rate, starting at bar 1, with the lead, doubles and adlibs as separate files.
My feature recorded on a phone. Can it still be used?
Often, with cleanup in the mix, though a cleaner recording always sounds better. Send it, and we check it before the job starts.
Do I need a split sheet?
Agree credits and any fee with your featured artist in writing before they record.
Where are you based?
Static City Studios is based in Apollo Beach, Florida. Mixing is done remotely, so artists anywhere can work with Static City Studios.
