Topline vs hook vs feature
A topline is the vocal melody and lyrics written over an existing beat. A hook is the part that repeats: in rap and R&B it usually means the chorus. A feature, or guest vocal, is another artist performing on your song.
Every song has two rights: the composition (the words and melody) and the recording (the master). Who writes, who sings and who owns what are separate questions. With Static City Studios, credits are agreed in writing before work starts, so there are no surprises after release.

Can I pay someone to write a song over my beat?
Yes. Songwriting and toplines are quoted per project. Send the beat, your references and your deadline.
What is the difference between a topline and a hook?
A topline is the melody and lyrics for the whole vocal. A hook is the repeating part, usually the chorus. You can ask for either.
If I pay for writing or a feature, who owns the song?
It depends on what is agreed. With Static City Studios, credits and any splits are agreed in writing before work starts.
Can I work with a songwriter online if I record at home?
Yes. Writing and guest vocals are handled remotely, and the finished song can go straight to Vocal Mixing.
